While we do not market our dice as being precision machined, as the definition of precision machining is holding a tolerance of +/-.0002”, and no RPG dice are held to Aero Space level tolerances. Our dice are machined from solid stock and do not suffer from the same kinds of manufacturing defects seen in injection molded dice, therefore, they do not have vacuum pockets like injection molded dice. Why do we have a modified numbering system on our dice? It’s all due to a special set of dice that were gifted to me a long time ago, that my gaming groups refers to in hushed tones as “Those cursed player killing dice…” So in a nod to the mystique of those dice we elected to follow their numbering patterns, which has the added benefit of making our dice that much more unique than your run of the mill injection molded random number generators. Our d6’s and d4’s are stereotypical in their numbering, but you will notice that the d4’s are numbered along their points as opposed to the base.
Our d10 and d% follow a N-1 pattern, and our d8’s and d12’s follow a semi sequential pattern. Our dice follow a slightly modified numbering sequence in that the D20’s have slightly different pattern than normal but still maintain the typical N+1 numbering system where opposing faces of the die add up to N (number of sides on the die) +1. Non-wooden d6 sets and wooden d6s included in our polyhedral sets are laser engraved using our super awesome Trotech Speedy 300 Flex.
Our wooden d6 sets are numbered, but you may choose to have them pipped (meaning they have a number of dimpled spots on each face corresponding to the number rolled) by clicking on the customization tab and choosing the option for pipped dice. And what about rolling falling damage when the party’s latest master plan to fly over the castle wall in a hot air balloon literally falls apart at the seams? So yes we include those 3 extra d6s, because you can never have enough of them laying around. And that has always kind of irked me a little as you need 4d6 to roll a character, and if you play a rogue you always need extra d6’s. These days, dice manufactures only include 1d6 in their sets.
